I was challenged to create an arrangement of this song by my dear friend "James Knox" it's one of his favorites. It's based on the Jazz Standard "I didn't know what time it was" sung by many but specifically by Carmen McRae. I wanted to create something Raul, my bass player could have fun with.
lyrics
Lyrics adapted from the Jazz Standard "I didn't know what time it was"
I didn't know what time it was then I met you
Oh, what a lovely time it was, how sublime it was too
I didn't know what day it was you took my hand
Oh, what a lovely day it was and I'll say it was grand
Grand to be alive to feel your touch to know you're mine
Grand to hear your voice to see your face to know you're mine
I'm alive and I know what time it is now
vamp:
I'm alive and I know...
I am wise and I know
I'm a live and I know what time it is now

This album is spoken word, music and just the truth... Joyce Lee is a rare breed of a woman and her offerings pave the way for new thought and a new world. Valerie Troutt
Since discovering Spellling she has quickly become one of my favorite artists and litsening to her music has helped me through some rough times. It is music with a whimsical wonderous element that revives the spark within me :) fladelito
This could’ve been my album of the year if I’d noticed it. Hell.
2020, feeling like shit and then this musical balm appears. Live recording on one mic. Just bass and harp. Awesome. It swings like a pendulum do!
Big shout out for Dezron’s love of coffee. I now have 2 of his albums and he’s proselytising on behalf of coffee on both. Damn right ☕️ Crinklechips
